VIRTUAL MENTORING
RESOURCES FOR SUPPORT DURING COVID-19
Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio (BBBSECO) is continuously taking and promoting precautionary measures to prevent the spread and contamination of others with COVID-19. Due to these developments, we are encouraging Bigs and Littles to engage in virtual communication and activities for the time being. BBBSECO will be compiling and periodically posting recommendations, both developed internally and collected from other sources.
“Virtual mentoring” refers to any mentoring activity that does not take place face-to-face. With today’s technology, there is a suite of communication tools open to this style of mentoring, including FaceTime, Skype, phone apps, telephone, email and messaging, etc.
You can view our complete COVID-19 Response and Impact as well as our Match Outing Requirements for our Bigs below.

VIRTUAL
MENTORING
RECOMMENDATIONS
- Facetime, Skype, etc. / call each other
- Become pen pals via email
- Form a virtual book club
- Host a virtual movie night
- Conduct an in-home scavenger hunt contest
- Conduct a virtual in-home fitness challenge
- Play multiplayer games on the internet together

INTERNET SAFETY
Parents should be aware of any interactions taking place via the internet. A federal law, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), helps protect kids younger than 13 when they’re online. It’s designed to keep anyone from getting a child’s personal information without a parent knowing about it and agreeing to it first.
We thank everyone for your continued support for our mission to ignite the great power and promise of youth in our community. Please take care of you and yours! We will be in touch again soon.
Sincerely,
Beverly Pearch
