Big Jamal and Little Crimson have been matched for two years in our community-based program. Crimson’s mother enrolled him in the program looking for a strong male African American mentor for her son. She knew that a positive role model with these qualities would be beneficial for Crimson growing up. Jamal was the perfect mentor for Crimson, he is such a caring, down to earth individual with lots of insight to give to a child. Jamal was a Little himself, and understands the importance of having a positive influence and person to go to in your life. He used his experience as a Little to drive his match and form the positive relationship he has with Crimson. Crimson and Jamal spend lots of time at sporting events and out to eat. Jamal makes sure Crimson has an outlet and someone that is going to be there for him through whatever life throws at him.
